Product Planner
The Product Planner is your analytical hub for understanding product-level data. It has three tabs: Inventory Snapshot (current stock levels and value), Sales History (revenue and unit trends over time), and Product Performance (classification frameworks like ABC-XYZ, FSN, Growth, and GMROI).
Key Concepts
Inventory Snapshot
Shows your current inventory state — units on hand, inventory value, weeks of supply, and velocity per product. You can view historical snapshots by selecting a past date. Filter by product type, status, tags, collections, or location.
Sales History
Analyze historical sales performance with customizable date ranges. See net sales, units sold, units per day, and percentage of total sales. Break down by product type, location, or channel. Click metric cards to sort the table by that metric.
ABC-XYZ Analysis
ABC classifies products by revenue contribution (A = top 80%, B = next 15%, C = bottom 5%). XYZ classifies by demand variability (X = stable, Y = moderate, Z = erratic). Combined, the 9-cell matrix helps you prioritize inventory strategies — AX products need tight stock control, CZ products may be candidates for discontinuation.
FSN Classification
Classifies products as Fast-moving, Slow-moving, or Non-moving based on sales velocity relative to configurable thresholds. Helps identify deadstock and prioritize warehouse space allocation.
Custom & Saved Views
Save your filter configurations as custom views for quick access. Each view remembers the analysis type, thresholds, filters, and sort order. You can duplicate, rename, or delete views.
How to Use
Check Your Inventory Snapshot
Navigate to the Inventory Snapshot tab. Review the summary cards for total units, stocked-out count, total value, and weeks of supply. Use filters to narrow down to specific product types or collections. Sort by any column to find items needing attention.
Analyze Sales Trends
Switch to the Sales History tab and select a date range. Click the Net Sales, Units Sold, or Units/Day metric cards to sort the product table by that metric. Use the location filter to see sales at a specific location.
Run Product Performance Analysis
Go to the Product Performance tab. Select a preset view (ABC-XYZ, FSN, GMROI, Growth, or STR) or create a custom view. Adjust thresholds if needed. The analysis updates in real-time. Export results to CSV for offline analysis or sharing.
Tips & Best Practices
- ✓Start with ABC-XYZ analysis to understand your product portfolio before building purchase plans.
- ✓Use the FSN view to quickly identify deadstock — Non-moving products with inventory on hand may need markdowns.
- ✓Export CSV from any tab for offline analysis or to share with your team.
- ✓Create custom views for recurring analyses — e.g., 'Q4 Top Performers' or 'Clearance Candidates'.
- ✓The Sales History tab's location filter helps you understand which locations drive the most revenue per product.
