Inventory Alerts
Inventory Alerts send automated email notifications when inventory conditions match your rules. Configure alerts for low stock thresholds, stockout events, overstock situations, or custom reorder points. Scope alerts to specific collections, vendors, or tags, and set delivery schedules.
Key Concepts
Alert Rules
Each rule defines a trigger condition (e.g., 'on-hand drops below 10 units'), a scope (which products to monitor), and recipients (email addresses). Rules can be enabled/disabled independently.
Alert Cadence
Choose when alerts fire: daily, weekly (pick a day), or monthly (pick a date). Set the time of day in your store's timezone. Triggered alerts fire whenever the condition is met during the hourly evaluation.
Filter Scope
Scope alerts to specific products by collection, vendor, product type, or tag. For example, create a 'Low Stock — Winter Collection' alert that only monitors products tagged 'winter-2026'.
How to Use
Create an Alert Rule
Click 'Create Alert' and select a trigger type. Set the threshold value, choose which products to monitor using filters, add recipient email addresses, and set the delivery schedule.
Test an Alert
After creating a rule, use the 'Preview' button to see which products currently match the trigger condition. This lets you verify your thresholds and filters before the next scheduled evaluation.
Tips & Best Practices
- ✓Start with a basic 'low stock' alert for your best sellers — it's the highest-impact alert to set up first.
- ✓Use collection filters to set different thresholds for different product categories (e.g., lower threshold for slow movers).
- ✓Add your purchasing manager as a recipient on reorder-point alerts for faster restocking response.
