Billing & Plans
Alfred's pricing is based on your store's annualized net sales AND your product catalog size — all plans include full access to every feature. As your store grows on either dimension, your plan scales with you. Billing is handled entirely through Shopify for security and convenience.
Key Concepts
Pricing Tiers
Four tiers paired on annualized net sales AND total variant count: Build ($29/mo, up to $500K, up to 2,000 variants), Grow ($49/mo, up to $1.5M, up to 5,000 variants), Scale ($69/mo, up to $3M, up to 10,000 variants), and Thrive ($99/mo, unlimited revenue, up to 20,000 variants). Every tier includes all features — no feature gating.
How Revenue is Calculated
Alfred calculates your trailing 60-day net sales and annualizes it (multiplies by 365/60). This gives a smoothed estimate that isn't skewed by a single good or bad month. The billing page shows your current calculation.
Variant Limit
Each tier has a cap on total product variants in your store. The cap exists because variant count directly drives the cost of running Alfred for you (storage, sync time, computation). Your billing page shows your current variant count, plan limit, and percentage used. Exceeding the cap starts a 14-day grace period with an upgrade prompt — the same path as exceeding the revenue ceiling.
Annual Billing
Annual plans include 2 months free (~17% savings). You can switch between monthly and annual at any time. Downgrades from annual plans are deferred to the end of your billing period.
Revenue + Variant Pairing
Your required tier is the higher of the two dimensions. A store with $400K revenue but 7,000 variants needs Scale (not Build) because the variant count requires it. A store with $2M revenue but 300 variants needs Scale (not Build) because revenue requires it. Both dimensions must fit the tier for it to be a valid match.
How to Use
View Your Current Plan
Go to Configurations → Billing. Your current plan, billing cycle, and BOTH usage metrics are displayed: an annualized revenue card (with a progress bar against your plan's revenue ceiling) and a variants card (current variant count, plan limit, percentage used).
Review Your Two Usage Dimensions
Alfred sizes you on revenue AND variant count. Either dimension can push you up a tier. Both progress bars on the Billing page turn amber at 85% and red over 100% so you see growth approaching the ceiling before you trip a grace period.
Change Your Plan
Select a different plan from the pricing cards. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades from annual plans are deferred to period end. Alfred will only let you downgrade if BOTH revenue and variant count fit the lower tier.
Tips & Best Practices
- ✓All plans include every feature — you're never locked out of functionality.
- ✓Annual billing saves ~17% — great for established stores with predictable revenue.
- ✓If you exceed your plan's revenue OR variant ceiling, you'll get a 14-day grace period to upgrade with no feature interruption.
- ✓Watch the Variants card on the Billing page if you have a large catalog — variant count grows with new products and variants, so review it before a big SKU expansion.
- ✓Custom display currency (Configurations → Store Settings) is independent of your plan tier — currency choice doesn't change billing.
